Kei was a rebellious and tough, but otherwise normal high schooler who fought along with his close friends. But one day, after a fainting spelling, his doctor told him and his mother that while Kei looked like a male, he is was in fact genetically female! After talking it over with his parents, Kei decided to live as a girl, and he even changed his name to Megumi (which used the same kanji as in the name Kei). Despite the change of lifestyle, Megumi still struggled with the transition from male to female. Though Megumi dressed like a girl, she still felt more like a boy. The only person she felt comfortable around was Makoto, the niece of the doctor who helped the Yoshikawa family with the change and who was also around the same age as her.

When Kei learned of his predicament, Kei took six months off from school in order to have his body worked on to appear more feminine. Upon returning to school, Megumi was set back one year to the first year of high school (equivalent to tenth grade in the US) because of all the school she lost and it would be easier for her to not be in the same class as those who knew her as Kei.

Megumi tends to be very outspoken and blunt. She sometimes forgets that she's supposed to be acting like a girl. She'll often sit with her legs open or use rough, male speech.

IMPORANT NOTE//SPOILER NOTE: I'm playing Megumi *before* she becomes involved with Mikoto, Makoto's little brother who is also one of the main characters in the manga Princess Princess.
